MRIS History UK is a free, open access eBook with no publication charges edited by Professors Graeme Bydder, Ian Young & Martyn Paley. The purpose of the website is for non-commercial research, is not-for-profit and is for use by students of MRIS. All articles are for educational use only. All copyrights are acknowledged. Any copyrighted figures included in articles are fully referenced to the original articles by the copyright holder. Thanks to Wiley for allowing us to use their copyright material in John Mallard‘s chapter.

Ian died on 27 September 2019. He wrote the first article for the eBook as well as an account of his experience with the Magnetic Resonance in Medicine Societies. He was actively editing articles for the eBook up until a short time before his death.

Several obituaries of MRIS researchers are included in the eBook including for Ian who we all miss greatly.

  • MRIS History UK contributions : Please just send us a word document with pictures and figure legends in-line and references at the end and we will review it for suitability for publication and convert it to MRIS History UK format for upload to the site. Please attach a suitable photo of yourself to include in the gallery. The documents are historical memoirs not scientific publications so you are encouraged to include your amusing anecdotes and interesting recollections of your research in MRIS.
